AS Roma is in mourning following the death of Carlo Petrini, a great footballer and man of substance, a man who could make big mistakes but then have them forgiven simply by recognising them. Just like on that rainy afternoon in December 1975 when he held his hands up to the Curva Sud to apologise for his misses in front of goal, and then he lifted them up once more to share his delight in scoring the winning goal against Sampdoria. He was an incredible commentator and writer; in the latter role he told of the corruption in football, even admitting his own involvement in it. The final farewell to Carlo will be tomorrow at 14:30 in Lucca - where he lived out the remaining eight years of his life – at the Chiesa dell’Arancio, via di Tiglio 192, opposite the Santuario di Santa Gemma AS Roma is with Adriana and his entire family at this very painful time.
